Program helps promote careers in the HVACR and water heating industry

The Clifford H. “Ted” Rees Jr. Scholarship Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation of the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), has announced $60,500 in scholarship funds to 35 students, including five veterans, studying to become technicians in the HVACR and water heating industry.
The 40,000-square-foot building includes a training center that will support LG’s air conditioning business and educate contractors, technicians, and engineers about the HVAC technology.
The AHR Expo, which began more than 85 years ago, is held annually in key markets and major cities across the U.S., hosting close to 2,000 exhibitors and crowds of more than 60,000 industry professionals. The event provides a unique forum for the HVACR community to come together and share new products, technologies, and ideas.
With eight tracks, 100 sessions, and more than 300 speakers, the technical program at ASHRAE’s 2016 Winter Conference is bound to impress attending engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and building professionals. The technical program will have a fresh feel with new tracks focused on design-build practices, cutting-edge technologies, and residential systems.
North American Technician Excellence (NATE) is hoping the development of two new exams — a job-readiness certificate exam and certification-level exam for less experienced technicians — will provide a pathway into the industry or to a professional-level certification for new or less-experienced technicians.
