Conference veterans and newcomers alike are ready for the ACCA 2019 Conference and Expo in San Antonio, March 4-6. The events prepared for attendees range from guest speakers like Darren Woodson, former Dallas Cowboy and ESPN analyst, to breakout sessions that cover distributor relationships, marketing, payroll, opioids, and more. Held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, the theme of this year’s conference is to “Optimize.”
The NEWS sat down with Barton James, interim president and CEO of ACCA, to talk about what he has experienced in his time as leader so far. The association’s relationships, the direction of ACCA, and what has been accomplished were discussed as he detailed what ACCA and its leadership team is working toward for contractors in 2019.

Balanced Air installed a donated York HVAC system in home for U.S. military veteran

Balanced Air partnered with other local contractors and Building Homes for Heroes during a welcome home ceremony in Parrish, Florida, for USA Sergeant First Class Andrew Gonzalez. Throughout his service, Gonzalez suffered many injuries that have impacted his mobility. His injuries require specific modifications to his home in order to live safely and focus on his recovery.
At the AHR Expo, Napoleon displayed a product mix that aimed to illustrate the company’s continued development and expansion into the residential HVAC channel in the U.S., ranging from an expanding line of gas furnaces, to an air conditioner and heat pump line, to a ductless product and vertical PTAC offering. Showcased was a new furnace designed and built for the residential new construction market.
The company kicked off the AHR Expo with a press conference, where Chris Peel, president and CEO of Rheem, announced the company’s commitment to a sustainability platform — A Greater Degree of Good — as well as its 2025 sustainability commitments tied to ‘Designing for Zero Waste’ and its upcoming 100-year anniversary. Manufacturing products that demonstrate sustainability, decreased waste, and increased efficiency will become a stronger focus for Rheem.
