Anti-sweat controls top Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association list

The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM) has released its latest benchmarking snapshot, “Commercial Refrigeration.” The snapshot which utilizes information from the latest PRSM Benchmarking Report, “Energy Benchmarking Initiative Study,” the 2016 IBISWorld report, “Walk-in Refrigerator in the U.S. – Procurement Report,” and the new U.S. Department of Energy Updated Rule to Energy Policy Act.
While the benefits of maintenance agreements are nearly universally understood today, I’ve found that the benefits of perpetual maintenance agreements are not nearly as universally understood, and I believe they are something every contractor should seriously consider.
There is no reason why building occupants should complain of odors, stale and stuffy air, or symptoms of illness or discomfort, as numerous solutions are available to mitigate most IAQ problems.
No matter the type, properly designed, specified, installed, and maintained humidification systems can provide years of trouble-free operation. Taking a proactive approach to humidifier maintenance is the single best way to prevent operational issues and unscheduled humidification system shutdowns.
While a proactive maintenance approach is almost universally accepted in HVAC contracting circles, others in the industry believe the word “preventive” actually does the industry a great disservice.

Most believe that semi-annual maintenance helps keep equipment operating at peak performance and ensures the unit is ready for the heat of summer or cold of winter.

Refrigeration contractors are keenly aware of the value of the maintenance they perform for their grocery store and supermarket clients, but, in some cases, they may find themselves working with clients who underestimate it.
