EPA Final Rule’s Impact on R-410A Deadlines

The Environmental Protection Agency finalized changes to the 2023 Technology Transitions Rule. The changes remove the January 1, 2026, installation deadline for residential and light commercial air conditioning and heat pump systems using refrigerants with a GWP above 700. Additionally, equipment manufactured or imported before January 1, 2025, can still be installed until that inventory is gone. The rule also affects allowable GWP limits for supermarkets and retail refrigeration systems to 1,400.
