Conference Focuses on Natural Refrigerant Trends, Issues, Regulations

Danfoss recently sponsored and participated in ATMOsphere America 2013, a conference which discussed natural refrigerant trends, latest technologies, and regulatory issues in the U.S. and Canada.
Tecumseh Products Co. announced that it worked closely with Hussmann Corp. to launch the first United States-based grocery store using propane (R-290) refrigerant. The newly opened Austin, Texas supermarket built by H-E-B Grocery uses self-contained refrigerated display cases with hydrocarbon refrigerant R-290.
Airgas Inc. has announced that Emmanuel Dupree has been named president - Airgas Refrigerants. Dupree succeeds Ted Schulte who is retiring at the end of the month after nearly 16 years of executive leadership at Airgas.
So what can you do with natural refrigerants and where can you do it? That formed the basis of case studies presented at the second Atmosphere America Natural Refrigerants Conference in Washington, D.C.
President Barack Obama’s recently announced Climate Action Plan specifically references the future of the familiar HFC refrigerants all HVACR contractors work with on a daily basis.

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) announced it will host a conference on the AHRI Low Global Warming Potential (GWP) Alternative Refrigerants Evaluation Program (AREP) on Jan. 16, 2014 at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City.
