Ferris State University’s HVACR program will host its third Regional Instructor Workshop Aug. 1-3; more HVAC school news briefs.

The Employment Ready Certification program is a series of discipline-specific examinations that have been used for more than a decade by educational programs to prove entry-level technicians possess the core knowledge of HVACR system theory, function, application, components, and troubleshooting ability that is required for success when entering the workforce.

The conference featured a bevy of presentations, including award ceremonies, breakout lessons, general sessions, and a product exhibition with more than 70 showcasing companies. Educator credentialing exams were provided on-site as part of the conference, as was a class on programmatic accreditation.

Schools across the country are adapting their curriculums to offer distance learning, which increases their attractiveness to HVACR prospects who wish to learn the trade whenever they can, from wherever they wish.

After 20 years, the group recently issued its 200,000^th certification, surpassing its initial purpose while also growing and expanding into a diverse resource for HVAC professionals.

The University of Northwestern Ohio was granted accreditation of its HVACR program by HVAC Excellence.

The U.S. Department of Education, in collaboration with HVAC Excellence, recently hosted a webinar for HVACR educators so they could hear directly from the Department of Education about policies that will impact funding for HVACR programs.
