Low-GWP Refrigerants Approved for Scroll, Semi-Hermetic Compressors

Emerson Climate Technologies has approved DuPont Opteon® XP40 (R-449A) and XP10 (R-513A) for use in a wide range of its scroll and semi-hermetic compressors. This approval paves the way for the use of Opteon refrigerants in new and existing compressors for a number of refrigeration applications.
The company, which has 628 full-time employees at its Bristol location, will first move 50 seasonal workers into permanent positions. Another 60 jobs will be added by the end of April, bringing the number of full-time positions to 738 at the Bristol site.
There are a variety of OEMs and independent remanufacturers offering remanufactured compressors, but it’s clear there are vast differences in the quality of the end product.
