Thanks to modern communication technologies, such as cell phones, voicemail, and email, to name a few, switchboard operators including telephone answering services are going the way of the dinosaur — extinct. Westinghouse’s R8HE gas/electric packaged system is now available in a downflow configuration. The R8HE is said to be the first condensing gas/electric packaged unit for residential applications and offers a heating efficiency of 95 percent AFUE.

The Westinghouse EarthDirEX™ 19+ EER, 3.9+ COP geothermal direct geoexchange heat pump is said to require less drilling than other geothermal systems. Also, there is no earth-to-water heat exchanger component, so the heat pump transfers heat more efficiently. 

Companies are looking at this alternative method of financing in order to bring all kinds of new products to market, including products for the HVAC market.

The standards, which were set by the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) in 2007 and implemented Sept. 1, 2012, required residential gas hot water boilers to meet a minimum AFUE of 82 percent; gas steam boilers, 80 percent; oil hot water boilers, 84 percent; and oil steam boilers, 82 percent.

Inside the 15,000-square-foot house, the state-of-the-art heating system — complete with Wi-Fi and remote programming capabilities — is powered by a Bell & Gossett (B&G) pump system.

Representing all major segments of the HVACR marketplace, the winning entries were honored in 10 categories as the most innovative new products among the thousands that will be displayed at the Jan. 26-28 event in Chicago.
