Westinghouse’s R8HE gas/electric packaged system is now available in a downflow configuration. The R8HE is said to be the first condensing gas/electric packaged unit for residential applications and offers a heating efficiency of 95 percent AFUE. When furnaces operate at such efficiency levels, condensate forms. With a gas/electric packaged system there is a fear that the condensate will freeze. The R8HE addresses this by piping the condensate into the building (in rooftop applications).
