Available in a horizontal configuration for easy slab installation, the R8HE condensing gas/electric packaged unit has microchannel all-aluminum indoor and outdoor coils, which provide increased resistance against instances of corrosion. Condensing operation is made possible with a secondary heat exchanger. Condensate and flue gases exit the heat exchanger at the same time, eliminating the concern that the condensate will freeze. The unit, paired with an ECM blower, provides 95 percent AFUE two-stage heating and 14 SEER, single-stage operation cooling. The condensing gas pack features a state-of-the-art Copeland^® scroll compressor. A corrosion-resistant drain pan and embossed bottom pan keep the blower compartment dry. The SmartLite^® control board is able to increase igniter life by learning the start-up characteristics of the particular unit and adjusting the firing percentage accordingly.
