Dr. Joost Brasz, aero thermal manager, Danfoss Turbocor Compressors, passed away Sept. 2 at the age of 70. Dr. Brasz was recognized by the HVAC industry and the academic community as a leader and expert aerodynamic engineer in turbomachinery and centrifugal compressor technology.

Senator h. c. Peter Schaufler, CEO and owner of Bitzer, has passed away at the age of 74. Schaufler managed Bitzer for 36 years and turned the company into the world’s largest independent manufacturer of refrigeration compressors.

Low-GWP Refrigerants Approved for Scroll, Semi-Hermetic Compressors

Emerson Climate Technologies has approved DuPont Opteon® XP40 (R-449A) and XP10 (R-513A) for use in a wide range of its scroll and semi-hermetic compressors. This approval paves the way for the use of Opteon refrigerants in new and existing compressors for a number of refrigeration applications.

Danfoss has announced that Daikin Applied is the winner of its fifth annual EnVisioneer of the Year award competition. Daikin Applied is using Danfoss Turbocor variable speed, oil-free, magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors in its water-cooled Magnitude® chillers to help building owners reduce electricity consumption.
