Helps customers on Time of Use rate plans consume less energy without sacrificing comfort

Nest Labs Inc. has announced the addition of Time of Savings to its energy services offerings. Time of Savings enables the Nest thermostat to learn the price of energy for customers on Time of Use (TOU) rate plans so it can automatically adjust to help these customers use less electricity when energy prices are most expensive.
Millennials are price-sensitive, as cost has the greatest influence on their purchase decisions above all other factors, including quality, brand, store, and availability. So, they may not be willing to pay more for the higher efficiency HVAC systems that they claim to want.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Better Buildings Initiative has announced a partnership with CoStar Group Inc., a provider of data and intelligence solutions to commercial real estate professionals, to expand the visibility of energy-efficient buildings in U.S. property markets and promote the benefits of energy efficiency.
More than half of U.S. commercial building space is cooled by packaged HVAC equipment, according to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). So it comes as no surprise that energy efficiency is the biggest trend driving the rooftop market.
According to National Comfort Institute (NCI) studies of properly performing HVAC systems, coil pressure drop shouldn’t exceed 40 percent of the equipment’s rated total external static pressure.
