The Aurora Universal Protocol Converter (UPC) is now available on Versatec Base, Versatec Ultra and Envision² Compact geothermal heat pumps from WaterFurnace. It is designed to incorporate control of WaterFurnace Aurora-based heat pumps into commercial building automation systems (BAS).
A report by the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) has found that after three years of stagnation the European heat pump markets are recovering. It indicates that 771,245 heat pump units were sold in Europe in 2013, an increase of 3 percent, and early data for 2014 show this trend to continue.
The group’s amendment would allow GHPs to be compared to 80 percent efficient natural gas furnaces; include the desuperheater water heating efficiencies of GHPs; recognize the true cost of air-source heat pumps; raise the average by 54 percent; and extend the useful life of a GHP from 18 to 25 years.
In early August, geothermal heat pump (GHP) stakeholders put the finishing touches on the New York Geothermal Energy Organization (NY-GEO) — a new not-for-profit trade association founded by 67 members that promises to increase market penetration and sales across New York state.
Doug Dougherty said that even though getting GHPs included in the federal definition of renewable energy is one of GEO’s major issues, its efforts at the state level will not be deterred by a lack of recognition at the federal level.
Geothermal heat pump (GHP) stakeholders have announced a new trade association to help increase market penetration and sales in New York state — the New York Geothermal Energy Organization (NY-GEO).
The online open-source platform facilitates the discovery and use of geothermal data, enabling researchers to accelerate geothermal energy development.
