Extra Edition Rolls Out On News Web Site

By Greg Mazurkiewicz
February 28, 2003
This March 3 issue marks the official rollout of Extra Edition, the added-value section for subscribers on The News’ Web site.

For our subscribers, you will be able to access the complete contents of the print magazine. You will get full access to our Editorial Archives going back to 1999. Also, you will be able to view our Extra Edition page, which will offer additional online-only articles on service and maintenance, technical, and business management topics, along with Web exclusive articles of interest to our readers.

In order to view all this material online, you will now need to register as a subscriber to The News.

Registering Online

Beginning March 3, when you go to www.achrnews.com, you will be taken to an online registration page and you must enter your subscriber number from the mailing label of any print issue of The News.

Simply find any issue that you have on hand, find the mailing label in the lower left corner of page one, and look for the subscriber number, which is located above your name on the label. (See the mailing label illustration on this page that indicates the exact location of your subscriber number.)

You will only need to enter this number on your personal computer once. If you access The News online both at work and at home, you will need to enter the number on each computer. Once you register as a subscriber, you get free access to all of our online content.

If you have any problems registering, call our toll-free customer service number at 800-837-8337.

Complete Content

Subscribers can browse complete feature stories and columns, Industry News, Energy Matters, Legal Forum, The Hotline, Reader Mail, and more.

You can use the Editorial Archives to search a subject area or search for a particular article, or to look over the features and columns of past issues. New and improved keyword searching helps you find relevant articles faster than before.

You can also browse the Extra Edition page, which provides the “extras” that our surveys of News subscribers have told us you want more of — more service and maintenance articles with hands-on information; more technical articles that provide “how to” tips, solutions, and new technology details; and more business management articles that help you improve sales, marketing, customer service, and other aspects of your daily operations.

Looking for quick answers on air conditioning, heating and refrigeration topics? Try Ask ACHR NEWS, our new smart AI search tool. Ask ACHR NEWS →

Each Extra Edition article is also archived in its own section — just click on “Click here for more news …” under the appropriate section to see all the articles in that area. Extra Edition articles will be updated every two weeks, so it will be a continually growing resource library.

Subscriber Oriented

With this March 3 issue, The News Web site is now a limited access site with the Extra Edition content available only to subscribers or those who purchase a day pass. New subscribers may sign up on the Web site, and subscriptions can be renewed online as well. Those who wish to review our content may purchase a day pass, at a nominal fee, for 24 hours of access to the site.

Although most of our print content and all of the Extra Edition is limited to subscribers, a significant amount of content will remain free to all, including our cover story, breaking news, FYI, What’s New, Product of the Week, HVACR Forum, and our HVACR Directory & Source Guide.
