June 2016 Tech of the Month: Karl Panyko

Karl Panyko
June 27, 2016

Name: Karl Panyko

Title: HVAC specialist, Samm’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Plano, Texas

Why He’s Tech of the Month: Karl Panyko, an HVAC specialist with Samm’s Heating and Air Conditioning in Plano, Texas, has worked in the HVACR industry since 1993 and is known for his technical abilities as well as his customer service and willingness to go above and beyond his job description.

“Karl has been with Samm’s for 10 years, and I have known him for more than 20,” said Paul Sammataro, president of Samm’s Heating and Air Conditioning. “Karl is a knowledgeable and priceless employee.”

Panyko is involved in commercial and residential service and sales, and he also provides daily technical support to field technicians and office staff.

“He handles all situations he encounters with the professionalism every company yearns for,” Sammataro said. “He is consistent, rarely takes vacations, and will help and support anyone in need, including myself. We are thankful for team leaders like Karl.”

In addition to his duties, Panyko also provides training for new hires, and he is known for being the go-to guy when other companies have issues. “Panyko even received recognition from our local Trane distributor and field service rep,” Sammataro said.

Panyko also goes out of his way to help fellow employees when they can’t solve a problem. “Our installers were having an issue setting up a multi-stage, multi-zone system late one evening when Karl was not on call,” Sammataro recalled. “They called, and Karl offered support over the phone and then took it upon himself to go to the job site and provide on-the-job support. In a day when techs usually want to work 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to have Karl provide unprompted support like that is exemplary. He is our all-star.”

“The things I enjoy most about my career is helping people and solving problems,” Panyko said. “My career goals are to become a service manager in the future and to help the company I work for grow.”
