Name: Bret Fuller
Title: Service manager at Logan A/C & Heat Services in Dayton, Ohio
Why He’s Tech of the Month: Fuller, who has been with Logan A/C & Heat Services for nearly nine years, manages a group of 20 technicians with varying skill levels while also doing his fair share of hands-on work, said Julie Poeppelman, human resources manager at Logan.
“Bret runs four to six calls per day, and he handles a lot of our difficult or upset customers, as well,” Poeppelman said. “He’s also responsible for training technicians, and he holds multiple training boot camps for the techs throughout the year.”
Fuller, who began his HVAC career as a technician in 2001, said he likes “the challenge of taking something that’s not working, figuring out what’s causing it not to work, and fixing the issue.” He also enjoys training the technicians in his charge.
“If I can help you help yourself, and, in turn, help you do your job better, I get a sense of enjoyment out of that,” he said. “I know how it was when I first started, and there were many times where I questioned why I was doing HVAC because I didn’t feel I was cut out for it, but it was just lack of experience. I got feedback from my mentors, and I went from that to where I am now.”
Fuller also developed the company’s Perfect Service Call, which he teaches and promotes to the technicians. He is also Logan Services’ top performer in service sales.
“He sells with the integrity and ethics. Logan Services requires and teaches those same values to our service team,” Poeppelman said. “He’s been a huge asset to Logan Services and doesn’t always get the appreciation he deserves.”
Fuller said he plans to stay in the HVAC industry for many years to come.
“My goal is to continue to grow in my field and hopefully retire from this one day,” he said.
