For the 12th consecutive year, TDIndustries has been named to Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list with a ranking of 37. TDIndustries is also a Fortune “All Star,” a distinction that only 13 companies hold because they have been on the list every year since its inception in 1998.
Norm Leifried, a retired technical service manager with Virginia Air Distributors Inc., recently received the Distinguished Technical Service Lifetime Achievement Award from Johnson Controls. David Negrey, director of technical services and application engineering, Johnson Controls-Unitary Products, presented the award.

Even though an air conditioning shipment slowdown is expected in the winter months, there has been a continued and steady drop in shipment numbers over the second half of 2008. According to the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), year-to-date unitary shipments through November totaled 5,595,194, an 8 percent drop compared with the same period last year.

LG Electronics USA opened the LG Training Academy in Roswell, Ga., to support the company’s fast-growing commercial air conditioner business. At 16,000 square feet, this facility has the capability to train hundreds of engineers, contractors, and technicians each month. The training academy is the centerpiece of the new LG Roswell facility.
According to the Air Movement and Control Association International Inc. (AMCA International) the board of standards review of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved ANSI/AMCA Standard 540-08, “Test Method for Louvers Impacted by Wind Borne Debris.”

Ten organizations have formed a consortium in response to a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) request for advice on high-performance building issues. The High Performance Commercial Green Building Partnership (HPCGBP) brings together organizations from all aspects of the building community to provide guidance and technical expertise on sustainability issues to DOE’s Building Technologies Program.
