The Mechanical Contracting Education and Research Foundation (MCERF) received a contribution of $10,000 from Anvil International Inc., raising its total cash donations to $530,000. When Anvil’s cash contributions are combined with in-kind support, the company’s total contribution to MCERF is $1.18 million.
The Grainger Foundation donated $100,000 to the state of Michigan’s No Worker Left Behind (NWLB) initiative and Michigan Technical Education Centers (M-TEC) near Grainger facilities. The donation was made based upon the recommendation of branch managers of local branches near the education centers.
The proceeds from an Emerson silent auction are going to Operation Homefront, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance and morale boosters to U.S. troops and the families they leave behind. Operation Homefront was founded after Sept. 11, 2001, and has raised over $5 million since then.

Frederick-based Tri-State Home Services, a Bryant Heating and Cooling Systems dealer, provided the HVAC system and installation to a Poolesville, Md., family featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The donation included two Legacy™ Line-RNC 13 SEER central heat pumps.

The 2008 Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) - México established five new records with its record-breaking number of attendees and exhibitors including 9,028 in total attendance; 6,404 visitors; 2,624 exhibitor personnel; 355 total exhibiting companies; and 56,910 net square feet of exhibits.
According to an online contractor survey conducted by Nordyne during the month of October, 53 percent of the respondents said they currently use green in their sales calls. Another 28 percent said that green is something they are looking at in 2009, and 19 percent said their green movement will start in the next two to five years.
