At CeBIT 2017, Huawei announced that it is collaborating with Honeywell to bring to market smart building offerings that take advantage of the latest Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to help make buildings more sustainable, secure, and energy efficient.

Tim Hummel of Union, Missouri, has joined Wiegmann Associates as an HVAC service sales engineer. Hummel manages preventative maintenance programs and HVAC installation and repair projects for Wiegmann Associates’ commercial and industrial clients.

The new Atlanta Braves ballpark, SunTrust Park, offers fans a safer, more secure, and comfortable environment thanks to products from UTC Climate, Controls & Security brands — including Carrier, Automated Logic, and Edwards — as well as Otis Elevator. The ballpark is being touted as one of the most technologically advanced ballparks in the country.

Honeywell announced a facility infrastructure modernization project at 21 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-operated facilities across the U.S. The project will create 95 related jobs over the course of the program and is expected to help the FAA reduce the energy use in those facilities by nearly 10 percent.  

The Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) has elected its 2017-2018 officers and directors. The AMT board of directors, which represents more than 600 builders and distributors of machine tools, manufacturing machinery, and related products, named Ronald S. Karaisz II to serve as chairman.

Munters Group announced it has secured three new contracts over the past 12 months with leading U.S. retail chains. The contracts are in line with Munters’ strategy to strengthen its position in the U.S. market and to capture the trend where customers are keen to shift to more advanced and energy efficient solutions. Through Munters’ solutions, customers are able to maintain specified humidity levels, while at the same time reducing energy costs.

The Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) Intl. Inc. announced the launch of Standard 207, Fan System Efficiency and Fan System Input Power Calculation.

The global district cooling (DC) market was valued at $11.19 billion in 2015 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.1 percent to reach $17.33 billion in 2024, according to a new Transparency Market Research report titled District Cooling Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends, and Forecast, 2016-2024.

At Casa de Misericordia (House of Mercy) near Piedra Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, children who have been abandoned or removed from their home due to severe neglect or unsafe conditions are provided with a secure place, food, and a caring, stable environment. For the 30-40 children who call Casa de Misericordia home at any given time, that environment can now offer even greater relief, thanks to a donation from Friedrich Air Conditioning.

Habitat for Humanity (HH) and RGF Environmental Group Inc. (RGF) announced that they will cooperate on a strategic partnership to raise funds for building Habitat homes. Through the Halos for Homes partnership, RGF will donate a portion of sales from its most popular IAQ products, the REME HALO In-Duct Air Purifier, BLU QR UV stick light, Quad-DM Ion Generator for In-Duct HVAC units, and the Quad-MS® Ion Generator for Mini Split units from April 1 through Dec. 1.
