Event raises money for charity

On May 1, 126 golfers signed up to play in the 2017 Service Experts tournament for the Joseph Groh foundation. A record number of sponsors made it the most successful tournament ever for the foundation, with a total of $60,000 raised.

Joseph Groh Foundation Assists Electrician

Jeremy Ray latest recipient
May 17, 2017

For the past 15 years, Jeremy Ray had worked as an industrial and commercial journeyman electrician in and around the Austin, Texas, area. Some of the projects he was involved with over the years included changing and revamping clean rooms for Samsung, construction of the Circuit of the Americas racetrack in Austin, and projects at Hewlett-Packard and the University of Texas, among others. In recent years, he also had taken an interest in becoming a certified safety and health official, but fate had other plans.

Joseph Groh Foundation Touches Another Life

Charlie Yerger’s story
March 22, 2017

Charlie Yerger’s initial degree was not predictive of what turned out to be his passion. He turned a degree in EMS/Paramedicine into a career of working with HVAC control systems. His HVAC career started as an installation foreman for a controls contractor, which led to working as a technician for a large residential and commercial HVAC contractor in central Texas. In 2006 Yerger joined Johnson Controls Inc. as a systems technician on a major projects team, doing service work in specialized building systems areas.

Charitable organization provides injured hiker with a wheelchair

Daniel Parker has worked in the construction business for the past 45 years, the last 28 of which were spent as a finish carpenter managing crews in Tigard, Oregon. Parker’s career started in California, where he learned finish carpentry and new home construction while working with a firm in Atherton. He then moved to Nova Scotia and was the owner of Maplewood Enterprises Construction.

The Joseph Groh Foundation — Making Dreams a Reality

Parker needs 24-hour in-home care, and after purchasing a home equipped with a patient lift and wheelchair entry, he had no funds to purchase the wheelchair he desired. An online search led him to the Joseph Groh Foundation, where he applied for a grant. Thanks to many supporters, it was able to grant Parker’s wish.

In 2014, an accident turned Gagot’s life upside down. He was pulling shutters off a second-story window, when he slipped and fell off of a ladder. As a result, he broke his neck and damaged his spinal cord at the C-5 vertebrae.
