A.O. Smith created the Chairman’s Green Star Award in 2009 to encourage natural resource conservation efforts throughout the company. The award is earned by the plant that achieves the most year-over-year reductions in natural gas consumption, electricity usage, and water consumption. 

Burroughs has been in the filtration and air cleaning industry since 1965 when he took over the market development project at the Marbon Chemical Division of Borg-Warner to introduce a new patented gas phase sorbent developed at York, which he helped name Purafil.

The Franchisee of the Year Award is the highest honor than can be earned by a franchisee in the Aire Serv network. 

A dozen Northeast companies received Cool Smart awards during the New England ACCA golf tournament in September. Sponsored by the Massachusetts/Rhode Island Cool Smart program, the awards honor contractors for energy-efficiency practices, leadership, and quality installation of HVAC systems.
