The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the first existing multifamily housing properties to earn the new Energy Star multifamily certification for superior energy performance. EPA recognized 17 apartment and condo buildings across the country.

April 28, 2014: EPA Announces Winner of Annual Energy Star National Building Competition

This Year’s Competitors Saved More Than $20 Million

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that Claiborne Elementary School, Baton Rouge, La., has won the annual Energy Star National Building Competition. EPA said teams from more than 3,000 buildings competed. Claiborne Elementary School won by cutting its energy use nearly in half.
