One of the most popular and least understood of the new refrigerants — R-410A — is about to get an in-depth look with a new training manual now available and a seminar this March.

The Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) said that the 100-page training manual, titled Universal R-410A, has been “developed and designed by a coalition of leading industry association professionals to assist mechanical service personnel in their day-to-day work by providing comprehensive industry-specific training.” Both RSES members and non-members may purchase the publication by calling 800-297-5660. Members only can make use of the online order system by visiting www.rses.org.

The publication also comprises the textbook for a day-long seminar on Saturday, March 8, at the Viscount Gort Hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Presenters include government officials, college instructors, and representatives from Trane. Information on the seminar may be obtained by contacting George Kurowski at 204-632-2448 or gkurowsk@rrc.mb.ca. The registration deadline is Feb. 22.

According to RSES, in addition to providing service technicians with essential skills, this training course is designed to boost profitability by enabling technicians “to quickly identify problems and make solid recommendations on a course of action and remedy.”
