A web-based information system that continuously monitors IAQ in commercial buildings is the PureTrac™. Compact sensors called Noses® are placed throughout a building and connected to an onsite data acquisition system that gathers IAQ information. Five types of readings are taken: temperature, relative humidity, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and odors and gases. These readings are taken at 5-min intervals and reported on graphs through a secure website, states the manufacturer. When preset, “out-of-limit” events happen, building officials are notified at once, says the company.
