The goal is to meet rising demand from electrification, data centers, and manufacturing — without building more grid capacity. For contractors, this puts HVAC equipment at the center of energy management. Smart thermostats, connected heat pumps, and battery-enabled systems can help shift energy use away from peak hours — turning homes into active participants in the grid. And the opportunity could be significant — opening the door to new revenue streams as utilities and policymakers push for more grid-interactive HVAC solutions in the years ahead.
