WATERTOWN, Massachusetts — Bosch Home Comfort has introduced the latest addition to its Inverter Ducted Split (IDS) family of heat pump products, the IDS Edge.

" ... As heat pump technology gains momentum, homeowners and contractors alike are looking for systems that offer greater flexibility without sacrificing performance," said Mohamad Nasab, senior product manager, Bosch. "The IDS Edge offers variable refrigerant flow (VRF) technology and compatibility with a wide range of indoor units, making it one of the most adaptable and capable heat pump solutions in the Bosch portfolio.”

The Bosch IDS Edge is designed for maximum compatibility, installation ease and flexibility, and performance and reliability. The IDS Edge can be paired with a wide range of indoor solutions including air handlers, dual-fuel furnaces, ducted units, wall-mounted units and 4-way cassettes. This pairing approach allows for increased flexibility in home design, application and installation, while delivering consistent comfort and reliable performance. The IDS Edge also comes in a cold climate configuration — the IDS Edge Max — which offers enhanced cold climate capability.

The IDS Edge also features inverter-driven operation, compact outdoor design, and Low-GWP R-454B refrigerant, making it well-suited for retrofit and new construction residential applications. Engineered for durability in changing climates, it also offers corrosion-resistant coil coatings, self-cleaning condenser fan operation, a heated base pan and integrated fault diagnostics to enhance reliability and long-term performance. The IDS Edge is an Energy Star certified product.

The IDS family product line is comprised of the following systems:

  • IDS Ultra, the first Bosch air-to-air heat pump designed to provide reliable, energy efficient heating even in sub-zero temperatures. This cold climate heat pump can provide 100% heating down to an outdoor temperature of 5° F and will continue to initiate heating even down to -13° F. The IDS Ultra is available up to 5-ton capacities and meets the U.S. Department of Energy’s Cold Climate Challenge.
  • IDS Premium Connected, a 20-SEER system which can be used with the Bosch EasyAir app to enable in-app product registration, simplify installation and troubleshooting, and allow remote monitoring of energy usage as well as critical alerts.
  • IDS Edge, an inverter ducted heat pump platform that prioritizes ease of installation and uses VRF-style technology to deliver precise, efficient and flexible whole-home comfort.
  • IDS Plus, an 18-SEER system which combines Bosch‘s BOVB18 outdoor unit with its BVA20 two stage x13 ECM style air handler to balance efficiency, comfort and affordability.
  • IDS Light, the first 15-SEER inverter condenser on the market. This unit delivers the steady energy use and minimal noise expected of an IDS system at an unbeatable price point.

Bosch’s IDS Family heat pumps, including the IDS Edge and Edge Max, are available for purchase now.
