Before co-founding Jetson, Lake’s wearable technology company North (previously Thalmic Labs) grew to 400 employees before being acquired by Google in 2020. Lake then drew on his experience in consumer electronics and smart-home technology to focus on the aspects of heat pumps that most directly impact homeowners, as well as the complexities that have held the industry back, specifically in North America, the press release said. The result is a heat pump system with air quality sensors, an energy monitor, and a Jetson smart thermostat. Jetson Air’s smart features will also enable system optimization around time-of-use rates and demand-response events in the future, helping customers save money on their bills, support a more resilient grid, and reduce carbon emissions, the press release said.
