In the latest development in the ongoing tariff war, a federal court has handed Pres. Donald Trump a win, one that will allow him to keep his worldwide tariffs in place, for now at least.
A Federal Circuit Court of Appeals has paused a ruling handed down by the United States Court of International Trade that was issued in late May, effectively allowing Trump’s tariffs to remain in place as the matter makes its way through the legal system.
The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit issued a stay of the United States Court of International Trade rulings, which enjoined Trump’s executive orders imposing tariffs.
“The court also concludes that these cases present issues of exceptional importance warranting expedited en banc consideration of the merits in the first instance,” the court ruled.
The Court of Appeals is scheduled to hold an oral argument on the matter on July 31.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump called the latest development “a great and important win for the U.S.”
For the HVAC industry, tariffs have been adding to the uncertainty felt by many, from manufacturers to contractors. Essential components from sheet metal to raw materials to A2L refrigerants have seen significant impacts from the tariffs, and with the situation constantly evolving, it’s difficult to predict what the future holds.
