Name: Mike Landenwitsch
Title: HVAC Technician
Why He’s in the Spotlight: Landenwitsch first started in the industry really back in high school, when he did heating and air conditioning vocational school.
“And I’ve been in it ever since,” Landenwitsch said.
Landenwitsch started with Bachman’s HVAC Solutions, in Batavia, Ohio, in 1981, directly after finishing high school — and his 41 years of service with the company make him one of its most long-standing employees.
Each day, Landenwitsch is responsible for handling any and all client needs, including preventive maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting, said Keith A. Finitzer, operations manager at Bachman’s.
Landenwitsch assisted in the initial services when one of Bachman’s largest clients, Cintas, first become a client in 1995.
“He has been maintaining the HVAC at their headquarters ever since, recently installing several new units,” Finitzer said.
To Finitzer, what makes Landenwitsch stand out is the team player he is, his work ethic, and his analytical skills. He’s the type of guy to always help out when needed, whether it’s training technicians or making himself available for emergency work — noting that even with over 40 years with the company, Landenwitsch still does the most afterhours calls of any tech at the company.
Finitzer also noted that Landenwitsch is always the first technician to arrive on site (early, with tools in hand ready to work, always dressed in a clean, pressed uniform), works the hardest, and is usually the last to leave — never cleaning up his jobsite or tools until after the work day ends. Plus, the customers trust him.
“Mike is the point of contact for any of our technicians when they have issues in the field. He is the technician we send when no one else can solve the problem. In the rare instance Mike has not seen the issue or cannot solve the problem, he will research the issue typically afterhours so he is prepared to address the issue the following day,” Finitzer said.
Landenwitsch’s favorite parts about his job are being able to provide good service, and getting to see different places and experience different types of people.
“You can be in [this industry] 100 years, and stuff is always changing. You’re always learning different things, so it doesn’t get too boring,” Landenwitsch said.
As for Landenwitsch’s future, he plans to retire soon. Fortunately Bachman’s has a pretty good retirement plan, he said.
“Mike is one of the most selfless people I know … He's always there for the company,” Finitzer said.
