Technician Spotlight: Joseph Kuhn
The tech who puts others first

INTEGRITY: Outside of his skills as a tech, Kuhn is said to be a man of total integrity.
Name: Joseph Kuhn
Title: HVAC Installation Technician
Why He’s in the Spotlight: Joseph “Joey” Kuhn is described as someone who “represents everything an outstanding HVAC professional should be — dedicated, dependable and truly committed to taking care of customers.”
The HVAC installation technician has been with Sinton Air Conditioning and Heating, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, for the last 6 years, starting while he was still in high school.
“I got started with HVAC in tech school my sophomore year of high school,” said Kuhn. “My senior year (2020), I did a co-op with Sinton Air Conditioning and Heating, and I’ve been here ever since.”
Today, Kuhn is serving the company as one of its lead techs, responsible for overseeing and performing a wide range of installations and service and maintenance duties — ensuring that every customer receives safe, high-quality, and reliable HVAC service. He begins each workday by reviewing orders, preparing equipment and materials, and planning.
“On jobsites, he leads installations of heating and cooling systems, including equipment removal, proper setup, refrigerant charging, electrical and duct connections, and full system start-up according to manufacturer specifications and local codes,” said Matthew Sinton, owner of Sinton Air Conditioning and Heating. “He also performs diagnostic service calls, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs, and conducting preventative maintenance such as coil cleaning, safety checks, and performance testing.”
Kuhn also spends his days communicating with customers, explaining different options and system operations, and always documents his work to ensure that all safety standards are followed.

“My favorite part about being an HVAC tech is building very unique sheet metal duct fittings and seeing customers happy with the results of the job,” Kuhn said.
As far as Kuhn’s daily focus, it’s quality workmanship, problem-solving, and delivering a professional experience from start to finish.
“He consistently goes above and beyond to make sure every job is done right, never cutting corners and always treating each home as if it were his own,” Sinton said. “This year has been especially meaningful as he has stepped into the role of a first-time father while continuing to show up every day with the same strong work ethic and positive attitude.”
Sinton said Kuhn is the type of technician that customers trust and ask for by name, and outside of his technician skills, he’s just a stand-up guy.
“He is simply an all-around great person who brings integrity, kindness, and pride to everything he does,” Sinton said. “When my children were homesick, and I was scheduled to be on call, I asked Joey if he could cover for me. He immediately agreed and handled the weekend service calls without hesitation, ensuring our customers were taken care of with his usual professionalism. His willingness to step in and support a coworker on short notice speaks to his reliability and commitment to both the team and our customers.”
What sets Kuhn apart from the rest is his consistency — the fact that no matter how long of a day he’s had, or how challenging the job may be, he still shows up with his positive attitude and commitment to quality: taking ownership of his work, and putting the company, customers, and his family first.
Advice to Future Techs:
“Have pride in your work and do things the right way the first time around,” Kuhn said. “If you take shortcuts and don’t have pride in your work, in this field, it will come around to bite you in the long run.”
