Mike Thorne
Mike Thorne has been with Meier Supply for 16 years. He started in the distribution center warehouse picking parts and equipment. Mike took the lead role on many projects in the warehouse, which made him a perfect candidate to move up into the assistant warehouse manager position. Before moving into his current role as supply chain manager, Mike went through the company’s three-year internal leadership program, which focuses on business and leadership skills.
“I never had a plan of going into the HVACR industry when I was growing up. After school, I spent time working in education, but after four years, the program was closed and combined with another school. When that happened, I decided it was time to look for other opportunities that I could really build a career in. I had an offer to join the local electrical union, and at the same time, an old friend reached out and offered me a position at Meier Supply in the warehouse. I fell in love with the company and decided to join the team,” Thorne said.
Mike also networks with many other distributors in the industry, and they consistently share best practices going on in the industry right now. Currently, Meier Supply is looking at doubling the size of its distribution center while incorporating vertical carousels and conveyers to move product around. Mike is leading this massive project.
“As we continue to grow at Meier Supply, my goal is to introduce new forms of technology and automation to maximize efficiency and accuracy within our central distribution center,” Mike said.
