DAVIDSON, N.C. — Trane, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, has introduced Nexia™ Diagnostics, a remote residential HVAC system monitoring capability, which the company said can help prevent minor issues from turning into major repairs.

Nexia Diagnostics is the latest technology from Trane partner Nexia™ Home Intelligence, a home automation system provider. The diagnostic features work in conjunction with Trane’s Wi-Fi-enabled thermostats to send real-time HVAC system performance data to installing dealers for the highest level of service.

The diagnostic features are free for Trane dealers and their customers. Homeowners start with a compatible Trane thermostat and a free Nexia account and then opt in to the diagnostics to allow their local HVAC dealer access to performance data from their heating and cooling system.

Once a homeowner opts in, the local dealer can access a website showing real-time intelligence about how the customer’s system is performing. System alerts, from routine maintenance needs to system malfunctions, are automatically sent to the dealer, who can then proactively notify customers and address the issue immediately. This access to system performance data and alerts helps ensure the dealer sends the right technician with the right parts. Some issues may even be resolved remotely, eliminating the need for an on-site service call altogether.

“Nexia Diagnostics is a win for both customers and dealers,” said Karl Mutchnik, controls portfolio manager, Trane Residential. “For dealers, we are helping to maximize effectiveness and efficiencies, as it will reduce nuisance truck-rolls and time to complete a service call. For homeowners, we are providing an even higher level of comfort, support, and peace of mind.”
