ARLINGTON, VA — Combined U.S. factory shipments of 445,611 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps in February are down 3% from February 2001, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics.
Year-to-date combined shipments of 809,942 are down 1% from those of last year.
Heat pump shipments for February of 110,208 units are even compared to February 2001. The year-to-date total of 210,371 is up 4% from a year ago.
