Sept. 1, 2005: July Unitary Shipments Up 21 Percent From Last Year

ARLINGTON, Va. - Combined U.S. factory shipments of 892,640 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for July were up 21 percent compared to shipments from the same month last year, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics. Total shipments of 5,063,207 units for the first seven months of 2005 are equal to those for the same period last year.
Heat pump shipments for July of 203,542 were up 8 percent compared to July 2004. The year-to-date total of 1,224,710 is up 1 percent from January-July 2004.
July distributor shipments were up 28 percent from July 2004, with year-to-date shipments up 5 percent.
