ARLINGTON, VA — Combined U.S. factory shipments of 600,759 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps in August represented an 11% increase over August 2001, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics. Heat pump shipments of 123,099 units climbed 3% from August 2001.
Year-to-date combined shipments of 5,203,836 units are up 7% from those of last year, while year-to-date heat pump shipments of 1,094,390 are up 4%.
August distributor shipments increased 11% compared to August 2001. Year-to-date shipments are up 8%.
