Stagnating air can be dangerous to breathe, because of the accumulation of airborne contaminants, so ventilation was designed to supply the outdoor air into a building. Needless to say, ventilation to a building is vital. The common issue with ventilation systems though is the quality of airflow, as well as filtration. Some ventilation systems do not filter the particles, or, filter only certain types of particles, i.e. larger, less dangerous particles.
There is an epidemic in our industry of contractors trying to cram too much air through a filter that can’t handle it. It’s common to hear stories of 5-ton equipment trying to pull all its return air through a 16-by-25-by-1-inch pleated filter.

The global air filter market is predicted to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.6 percent during the forecast period of 2016-2020, driven by IAQ concerns, according to a market research report from ReportsnReports.
American Air Filter Co. Inc., d/b/a AAF International, announced it has acquired Flanders Holdings LLC, a leading air filter manufacturer in the U.S. With this acquisition, Flanders will be integrated into AAF, with the combination creating the largest air filter company of its type in the North American and global air filtration markets, said AAF.
