The Benefits of Being Involved
Not too long ago, I had a reader reach out to me asking for some business management contacts in HVAC. I had to stop for a moment – usually, I’m the one asking for contacts. But this person wanted my recommendations. I’m not going to lie, it felt pretty good.
While replying, an interview with another gentleman came to mind. We were having a conversation about ACCA’s annual convention at the time and he said, “The companies I consider successful, I continue to see at tradeshows, conventions, and things like that. The ones I hear complaining and struggling the most, I never see attending anything like the ACCA convention.”
That conviction just stuck with me. If you’re not already involved in a member organization such as ACCA, Nexstar Network, or Success Group International, you should be. All three groups are great examples of organizations that offer its membership support in key areas like business management, training, and much more. More importantly, they also hold events each year where members can interact and meet other contractors and learn first-hand what works and what doesn’t work.
I’ve had the opportunity to speak with members of each group, and every single one of them could talk forever about ways their membership has helped them succeed. Member organizations are a great resource, and if you’re not making use of them, you could be missing out.
