EMCOR Group Inc., a leader in mechanical and electrical construction, industrial and energy infrastructure, and facilities services, announced that its subsidiary EMCOR Government Services has been awarded a contract to operate and maintain the new Coast Guard headquarters and support facilities.

Groom Energy Solutions has announced the newest release in its Enterprise Smart Grid research series, “2013 Enterprise Smart Grid and a Corporate Buyer’s Guide for Energy Management Software.” The new report is based on interviews with corporate energy, facility, and sustainability managers, vendors, and an online survey.

Combined United States shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps totaled 753,437 units in May 2013, up 13.3 percent from 664,802 units shipped in May 2012, according to the latest statistics from the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI).

Conservation Services Group (CSG), a leader in residential energy efficiency services, announced that Kathryn Orfino and Paul Cimino have joined its leadership team. Orfino, a green building and program management veteran, will lead CSG’s West region as regional vice president. Cimino joins the company as general counsel.

Watsco Inc. reported results for the second quarter and for the six months ended June 30, 2013, noting that the second quarter saw the highest sales and greatest profits in company history.

Burns Mechanical, a leading mechanical contractor serving the greater Philadelphia area, has announced the appointment of Dan Kerr as president. Kerr will report to former interim president Rick Perosa, vice president of PPL Energy Services Holdings. Burns Mechanical is a subsidiary of PPL.

Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-Calif.) has introduced the Smart Grid Advancement Act of 2013. McNerney said the bill is designed to move forward the development of a more efficient electrical grid, tasking states and utilities to establish goals for reducing electrical use during peak times through the use of smart grid technologies.
