The chiller standard will need to be adopted more on a state-by-state basis, making it highly unlikely it will be evident throughout the country by 2015.
The Series 1500 cooling tower’s Extreme Efficiency (XE) models are at least two times more efficient than the minimum requirements established in ASHRAE 90.1 and further reduce the unit’s operating cost, the company said.

Star Refrigeration Group announced that it has launched a new United States subsidiary, Azane Inc., to manufacture and supply its “low-charge ammonia” technology in the U.S. The company developed the technology to meet the challenges that the HVACR industry was facing as Europe started the phaseout of R-22 refrigerant.
Manufacturers are on a quest to create more efficient equipment than ever before, and they're urging contractors to stay up to date on the latest technology.
Because the recommendation is only for end-of-life replacement, the hope is that implementing this technology will result in a gradual greening of chillers across GSA’s facilities.
