Combined United States shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps totaled 753,437 units in May 2013, up 13.3 percent from 664,802 units shipped in May 2012, according to the latest statistics from the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI).
