Louisiana HVACR Contractor Extends Service To Japan

July 26, 2002
Richardson’s Plumbing and Heating, Inc., a contractor based in Shreveport-Bossier, LA, has now completed its first international project. The Asset Management Services unit of Trane recently hired Richardson’s to retrofit the condenser water system for a 500-ton chilled water plant at the Misawa Air Force Base Clinic in Japan.

FPL Energy Announces Construction Of Large Wind Energy Facility In West Virginia

FPL Energy, LLC, a subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc., Juno Beach, FL, has announced that it will build, own, and operate one of the largest wind energy projects in the eastern United States, the Mountaineer Wind Energy Center, to be located in Tucker and Preston Counties in West Virginia.

Diffusers Star In Five Points Plaza's Pursuit Of More Efficiency In Tight Spaces

July 20, 2002
Leaking radiant panel valves had become an expensive maintenance problem for the Five Points Plaza building in Atlanta. Replacing the radiant ceiling system with a VAV system could solve that problem, but the available ductwork could not be enlarged due to structural constraints and, as a result, the VAV terminals had to be low pressure. Therma-Fuser™ VAV diffusers by Acutherm (New York) filled that need and, in addition, gave the building individual temperature control and a system with low maintenance.

Edwards Air Force Base Goes Green And Saves Big

July 20, 2002
Edwards AFB was facing major rate increases and a decision by the California legislature to prohibit customers from obtaining power from an ESP. These events highlighted the urgency of finding an ESP to provide power at a fixed price for a term of 3 to 5 years. Paul Weaver, Energy Manager for Edwards AFB’s 95th Civil Engineer Group, made contact with ESPs that indicated an interest in such an arrangement, and which also offered renewable power at a price comparable to its original frozen tariff rate.
