Orlando Office Building Solves A Longstanding Problem

The First Union Tower is a modern building in a prime location in Orlando. The only problem with the facility was that the building cooling plant couldn’t keep up with the cooling demand. As a consequence, comfort levels in the building did not meet the performance standards expected by its owner, Hannover Real Estate Holdings, or the property manager, CB Richard Ellis. In 1999 the building’s HVAC plant received a complete makeover that has resulted in improved comfort and system flexibility, with no increase in operating costs.

HVAC System Adds ‘Pizzazz’ To Hoover’s Headquarters

A 50-year-old 75,000-square-foot building which formerly housed an industrial bakery was recently converted into a high-tech headquarters for Hoover’s Inc., an Austin, TX-based business information provider. The design strategy of exposing the 20-foot-high ceiling presented an HVAC challenge for consulting engineer Talex Inc Engineers, Austin, and mechanical contractor Encompass Inc., Houston.

DuPont Marks 200th Anniversary By Dedicating A Time Capsule

August 23, 2002
At the site where DuPont was founded as a family-owned gunpowder manufacturer during this week in 1802, the company marked its 200th anniversary by dedicating an 8-cubic-foot, stainless steel time capsule filled with artifacts, employees’ and retirees’ creative expressions, and a CD-ROM viewer.

Retirement Home In Florida Gets Major HVAC Work

Encompass Mechanical Services-Central Florida, with offices in Orlando and Clearwater, is furnishing and installing $1.78 million of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment and services for Pinecrest Retirement Community in Largo, in Pinellas County, under its contract with ABI Construction Services, Tampa.

New York School District To Implement Combined Heat And Power System

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced that it is providing $491,000 to the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District to demonstrate the efficiency of a combined heat and power (CHP) system.

August 23, 2002
After years in the HVAC service arena, a Detroit-area HVAC contractor and a top member of his former management team have opened a consulting business, offering solutions and support to plumbing and HVAC contractors who have made the decision to improve or grow their business. The new company is the Bergstrom-Elder Consulting Group.

AZ Registrar’s Enforcement Efforts Are In Process

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors has begun issuing warning letters and citations to contractors who are not in compliance with the new contractor advertising laws. A notification will also be sent to the publication where the non-compliant advertising appears.
