Lochinvar Corp. Hosts NOx Training For Texas Contractors
LEBANON, TN — The Lochinvar Corp. and Ashcraft Co. recently conducted a training session for Texas contractors concerning that state’s new NOx emission limits. The training focused on the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission’s (TNRCC’s) limits that affect new boilers, water heaters, and process heaters sold and installed in Texas. All units with a rated heat input up to and including 400,000 Btuh must produce emissions less than or equal to 55 ppm of NOx. All units with a rated heat input of more than 400,000 Btuh must produce emissions less than or equal to 30 ppm of NOx.
As of July 1, 2002, the products must meet limits according to the following schedule:
“I was aware of the new low NOx legislation and TNRCC’s involvement, but I did not realize that water heaters and boilers produce more air pollution than cars,” said John Roach of Double Eagle Mechanical. “As licensed plumbers, we are responsible for installing efficient products that help protect the environment.”
