In early 2006, its Partners Choice parts division was reorganized with the goal of establishing a different parts business direction. Mold in New Home Sends Owners Packing

Cheryl and Barry Mills didn’t have too much time to enjoy their new home. That’s because black mold took over the home even before they moved in. The Mills took the builder to court and won a judgment against the company in 2006, but the builder appealed and resolution isn’t expected for another year. A contractor joined The NEWS during a tour of the Mills’ home in late June.

The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) reported a 3 percent increase in combined central air conditioner and air-source heat pump shipments for the month of June, as compared to the same month last year.

Identify HVAC-Related Moisture Solutions

If there’s an indoor mold problem, all authorities agree that the mold needs to be cleaned up.  However, mold problems can be traced to moisture problems. No moisture, no mold growth.  Identifying and eliminating the underlying moisture source - or other cause of excess humidity - is just as important as mold cleanup. What does this have to do with HVAC? A lot.

Contractors Ride the Waves at Waterparks

Indoor waterparks and natatoriums are part of almost every new hotel and resort development today. According to the 2006 Waterpark Resorts Construction Report, the number of indoor waterparks being built is growing more than 30 percent a year. This is good news for the HVACR industry, in more ways than one. Not only do the new hotels need cooling and heating, so do the new indoor pool facilities, which can be quite elaborate.

New Johnson Controls CEO Looks to Continue Growth

Stephen Roell said he plans to follow the footsteps of John Barth as CEO of Johnson Controls. That could translate into more acquisitions in the HVAC arena. “We have a balance sheet which allows this growth,” hinted Roell, who introduced himself in a July 26 teleconference as a manager who embraces the “growth culture” that Barth fostered.
