The focus of the 2010 American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE) Winter Conference will be on developments that contribute to making indoor environments sustainable in humid climates. Florida is the perfect backdrop to learn about the latest in humidity control, as well as other issues in the HVACR industry.
On one level, contractors are facing increasing challenges when it comes to new refrigerants and new regulations. And they face new demands regarding energy efficiency and ever-changing technologies to achieve that efficiency. But it does not end there, at least in the case of a residential project in Hanover, Wis.
Many larger compressors in the refrigeration and air conditioning field have forced-oiling systems. These compressors are usually over 5 hp. They contain an oil pump located at the end of the compressor’s crankshaft. The crankshaft is actually connected to the oil pump and supplies power, which turns the oil pump.
Nine companies have been named as the winners of the eighth annual AHR Expo Innovation Awards. All nine companies will be recognized at the awards ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. in the New Product Technology Theater A at the show. In addition, one will be selected as the overall winner of the 2010 AHR Expo Product of the Year Award.
