Amos Snow III, the president and chief executive officer of Bois D’Arc International, took the company in a new direction about eight years ago, after purchasing the company from his father. Bois D’Arc has grown from just 85 customers to more than 850 customers in that time, as it transitioned from a sales company to a sales and manufacturing organization.

Grainger announced new capabilities to help customers comply with the reporting requirements associated with the stimulus funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The refrigeration equipment manufacturer Hill Phoenix Inc. announced it has acquired the specialty merchandiser Barker Company Ltd. and its sister company, Barker Sales and Service Inc. Under the terms of the transaction, the Barker organization will become part of the Hill Phoenix Specialty Products Division.

One contaminant that must be removed from a refrigeration system before refrigerant can be added is water vapor. If water vapor is left trapped in a system, it can lead to some serious problems. Technicians will typically reduce the system’s pressure to about 500 microns to remove this water vapor.

Changing Out a Ton of R-22

To get an idea of how much HCFC-22 is being used in the industry, just realize that the refrigerant has applications ranging from residential air conditioners to large flooded chillers. In that later category, British Energy PLC - said to be the largest electricity generator in the UK by volume - was seeking to replace R-22 in its chillers.
