More and more projects are looking beyond F-gases for refrigerants. Among the options are ammonia (R-717) and CO2 (R-744). Or - as in the case of a foodservice distribution center in Kitchener, Ontario - both. Flanagan Foodservices completed an expansion, most of which was a freezer that used technology new to Canada.

Industry Shipments Send Mixed Signals

Mixed signals continue to be sent out regarding shipment data for heating and cooling equipment. The most recent statistics from September showed shipments of residential gas water heaters up 7.4 percent compared with September 2008, while shipments of gas-fired, warm-air furnaces fell 2.5 percent in September.
