The LowDown Showdown sought to broaden the industry’s ability to engage architects, engineers, designers, and energy modelers to create an effective workflow and an outstanding design in real-word building efficiency challenges. The contest encouraged participants to work as integrated teams to use their design and modeling skills to create a near net-zero energy building.

As part of its commitment to extend the society’s global reach and better support its membership, ASHRAE announced the formation of a new ASHRAE Region in Europe — Region XIV. With this new region will also come a new chapter in Ireland, which will be vitally important for industry collaboration throughout Europe.
ASHRAE introduced its 2017-2018 president, executive committee officers, and directors during its annual conference June 24-28 in Long Beach, California.

ASHRAE and the Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) April 6 at the CIBSE ASHRAE Technical Symposium 2017 at Loughborough University.
