A Mitsubishi Electric Corp. plant in Maysville, Kentucky, where electrical equipment for the automotive industry is now made, will be revamped to produce variable-speed compressors for high-efficiency heat pumps.

“Our new split system R-454B refrigerant product line utilizes low-GWP refrigerant to promote sustainability,” said Cristian Daily, senior product manager at Oxbox.

Trane has issued new and updated commercial products that the company says will further building decarbonization efforts and comply with refrigerant regulations.

Trane will focus its efforts on partnering with suppliers of materials used in buildings and building equipment, including steel, aluminum, copper, and refrigerants, while continuing to incorporate circular design criteria into its product development.

Transitioning products to next-generation low-GWP refrigerants is an important part of Trane’s climate commitment, the company said.

Trane Charlotte employees achieved 3 million work hours, or approximately ten years, without a workday lost due to a work-related injury or illness.

The California Heat Pump Partnership brings together state agencies, manufacturers that represent more than 90% of the U.S. consumer heat-pump market, utilities, and other market actors to help achieve the state's goal of having six million electric heat pumps installed in California by 2030.

The product classification changes are aimed at helping consumers better understand Trane’s new models as it begins converting most of its new residential products to enable them to use R-454B refrigerant rather than R-410A.

Trane Fort Smith employees last October achieved 5 million work hours — or approximately twelve years — without a day missed due to a work-related injury or illness.
