The first class of Marine trainees at Camp Pendleton have graduated from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) solar job training pilot program, which is aimed at preparing service members for careers in the solar industry as solar photovoltaic (PV) system installers, sales representatives, system inspectors, and other jobs.

Kenneth D. While a shortage of competent HVAC technicians has plagued the industry for more than a decade, one national contractor has uncovered a very effective way to fill that void.
On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2014, Troops to Trades (www.troopstotrades.org), a nonprofit scholarship and career assistance program, will be launching an enhanced web tool designed to help contractors recruit veterans.

The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC of America) announced that it is joining the national Hiring Our Heroes program as part of the construction industry’s effort to add 100,000 veterans over the next five years.
York’s Quality Education & Training Center is working with a local organization called Save Our Veterans (SOV) to teach trained military personnel new skills pertinent to a profession in HVACR.

HELP Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric (formerly known as Thompson) has been named the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) 2013 Outstanding Small Employer of the Year. HELP received the award from Disabled American Veterans, a nonprofit organization with 1.2 million members.
Thompson Electric, Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, a company that has raised over $180,000 since 2009 to support veterans, hosted its fourth annual Veterans Day Celebration, Nov. 12, 2012, at its headquarters.
